Rehabilitation Support Services

We offer access to some of the latest technology to assist in neurological rehabilitation. Boost your physical abilities by trying out our cutting edge rehabilitation equipment.

Our physiotherapists work with clients to develop a tailored plan, specific to their situation.

AlterG Treadmill

On the AlterG Treadmill air pressure supports from below to give a sense of weightlessness, allowing you to offset your bodyweight by up to 90%!

This helps to control movement and strengthened weakened limbs and allows a physiotherapist to reduce a body-weight load in precise increments, ideal for exercising in a safe and controlled environment.

If any of the following apply conditions apply, the treadmill will help.

  • Legs are heavy and effortful to move.
  • Difficulty balancing
  • Afraid of falling
  • Fitness and stamina are limited due to the above points.
  • Pain in the hips/knees/ankles that limits walking.
  • Recovering from hip/knee/ankle surgery.
  • Would like to feel the freedom of walking on air!

Some of our specialist treatments:

Acupuncture

The insertion of very fine needles into specific points of the body. The principles of acupuncture are based in Traditional Chinese Medicine theories which influence the balance of our physical energy (Qi). In more modern times, scientific research has shown acupuncture to have specific effects on some of our physiological functions, including those that control perception of pain, immune response, and release of endorphins.

Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES)

This equipment  stimulates weak or inactive muscles and is commonly used for footdrop. The device is set up to help you walk more safely.

Kinesio-taping

Specially designed, stretchy tape improves blood flow, reduces pain and swelling, improving muscle activity. It is used widely in sports to improve performance and prevent injury.

Compression Garments

These lycra garments can be a useful way to help postural issues, muscle spasms and sensation problems. Off the shelf versions are available as well as custom made garments which we can measure for and order.

Equipment Assessments

We can review and advise on any equipment that you might use for making life easier. This includes walking aids, transfer equipment and wheelchairs.
